Is there going to be a tiptronic S2000?
Hi all,
I have heard rumours that Honda are going to release a facelift of the S2000 and along with it a tiptronic model. I am in UK so don't know if it will be released here but would be prepared to import from Japan. Does anyone have any idea of when it will be released and what 0-60mph times could be expected?
Thank you.

They should only have it like the BMW SMG or the VW DSG type transmissions. Normal Tiptronic is just a glorified auto
If they did make it auto every grandma and their dog can drive it so that wouldn't be good. The S is a pure enthusiast

What is wrong with automatic? The SL55 AMG comes in automatic only, there is no manual option and it will flaw virtually any car on the road, so is that not an enthuasiasts car. Not everyone is an enthusiast in the term you like, I live in central London and to have a manual would be rediculous, even the 911 Turbo now comes in tiptronic. I would only get the S2000 if it is brought out with an auto box, although I will investigate how much a tiptronic box conversion will cost if it can be done. Thanks for your replies anyway.

If they came out with an F1 paddle type shifter, that would be alright, but I'm still partial to the 6sp manual. Auto trannys have no place in a sports car/sport sedans.(And that's including the SL55 AMG) Only reason the 911 turbo and Ferrari's etc come in an auto(not including F1) is that so they can sell them to the ollld rich geesers who can't control their stick right(neither theirs nor the car's) and the moms(no offense to any moms on the board). But seriously, I wouldn't care if they came out with an auto, as long as they make it an option.
