Im about to purchase a used s2000 VERY soon and i wanted to make sure if there were any performance differences between a 01 and a 02. I know there are some minor interior changes but are there any performance changes? Are there any problems with the 01 models that the 02 fixed? If you know plz reply. Thanx

since you're new ill take it easy on you.

but seriously all the answers to your questions have most likely been answered. a search would yield you much better results and less hassle from other members.

during 2002 new oil jet bolts were added to improve the cooling of the engine a little bit. doesn't really increase performance as far as i know. the same engine is used of course, but a different ECU is incoporated into the 02 and 03. This yields slightly higher HP. that is pretty much it. some tranny tweaks as well, but no really big improvement in performance.

 

I think the biggest single thing in the '02 is the glass rear window. There were some minor suspension tweaks, I believe, besides the ECU upgrade.

 

There's a RUMOUR that the MY02 and MY03's dyno about 10 hp higher on average than the MY00 and MY01's ... but it's just hear say. If you want one, get a MY02. There are no changes between MY02 and MY03 so you can save a bit of money by getting the MY02. The MY02 and MY03's also have a slight change in suspension from the MY00 and MY01. Cosmetically, the MY00 and MY01's have 2 speakers while the MY02 and MY03 have 4. Also, the MY00 and MY01's have a plastic rear window while the MY02 and MY03's have glass. And last but not least, the MY00 and MY01's have stainless steel silver colored rims while the MY02 and MY03's have the same rims, but with a very very light gold tent on them...which is ugly as hell to me.

 

Oh yea, the MY02 and MY03's have silver accents on the interior and back lights and the MY00 and MY01's don't.
