It's weird. I got a few speeding tickets while stock. I put the Turbo on a year ago and I haven't had a ticket since. I might be getting old man corvette syndrome..

I dont want to learn my lesson the hardway. I have 430 whp. Its too fast to accelerate WOT. Way too dangerous to shift WOT through 3 gears, you know what though. I feel like I have something trully unique. If you don't like me having so much HP then talk to BMW, Chevrolete, Ford, and those other big dogs. They load there car up now with more HP then mine!

Z06 Blue devil 600+ hp
Viper 600 hp
Skyline 480 ish hp
SRT - 8 Jeep Grand 430 hp

need I say more?

They would of out lawed high hp by now, but sex sells, as well as does HP. End of story. USE IT WISELY!

ok, well anybody ever think that maybe some of us enjoy the feeling of acceleration , on en empty road, motor blaring, Turbo spooling. I dont care if I lose a race or if the hot mom in her Porsche Turbo beats me, its the love of speed/acceleration. If I gave a shit about what people really thought, I would not have put a loud exhaust, or a turbo that makes a lot of noise, I would be like every other 27yr old I know and went out and bought an entry level BMW for 40K, but what fun is that? Im not that douche that drives down the strip in 2nd gear at 50mph so everyone can hear how "mean" my car sounds, however I am that guy that takes the car out for a "spirited" drive Sunday mornings with the top down and radio off.

Asking why someone would want more HP in a car, is like asking why anyone would want to sleep with a girl with LARGE BEAUTIFULLY CRAFTED NATURAL TITS, simple becuase they are more fun that small ones
funny you mention tits. i for one think there is such a thing as too big. bleh

[QUOTE=mxt_77,Mar 21 2008, 04:20 PM] Until the backup from the resulting merge extends all the way back into the intersection!!!

You seem to be ignoring that part of my point.

See what I meant a few posts ago? These intersections cause no end of bad feelings. Some people think anybody who queues up is stupid and anybody who doesn't let people in after the light is a tailgating jerk. Other people think that people who use the disappearing lane are queue-jumping and selfishly causing other people to miss the light.

In my experience, both can be true. It depends on the number of people waiting at the light, the length of the light, the length of the lane on the other side before it disappears, and several other factors.

It really just comes down to personality types, IMO. Some people automatically look to join up in the queue and resent people who bypass it, while others automatically look for an excuse to bypass a queue and think people who jump in line are silly.

As for me, I sometimes join the queue and sometimes try to drive around it, depending on the situation.

Well, the best advice I can offer to reduce road rage is simply don't cut people off.

I bet patiently waiting in line with the rest of the peons has not induced a single incident of road rage. Ever.

How many cuttoffs do you think have caused it tho?

Food for thought...

Drivers will either get better with patience and respect in the US, or get worse like in Trinidad. And I agree that this seeds other societal behavior problems when unbridled.

And in the flux, I will do my very best to send the message to those trying to coast through on the shoulders of others, that although they may get away with stepping on many backs, mine ain't for sale.

And one would really only care about these things if they're insecure and have a really small dick. Basically a 16 year old.

I already told you, I don't care. Do want you want, I'll be passing in the empty lane. For every one jerk who wants to tailgate to keep people out, there are twenty drivers around them that follow with ample space for merging.

I deal with people like you in a very controlled way, I patiently wait to get in front of you down the road then proceed to drive as slow as humaly possible while you get infuriated behind me. Try the crap you're bragging about in NJ and there's a good chance someone will either hit you or get out and punch you in your face. I guess you're a man of privledge that doesnt need to wait like everyone else.

When you're in a store and there's a line do you walk all the way to the front then cut in, probably not because in that situation you'd have to confront the people you're cutting ahead of face to face.

There's a funny onramp here in Dallas. It's a flyover from the northbound lanes of a highway to both directions of another highway. It starts off as two lanes, then the right lane splits into two to service the east-bound direction. The two lanes continue on to the west-bound lanes. It's designed to be wide enough for two lanes the whole way, but the center line peters out about halfway, and there's a "Lane ends, merge right" sign there.

Now, the funny part is that invariably every lines up in the far left lane, and many of them get upset if you drive down the empty (and still delineated!) right lane. Even though the sign tells them they're in the wrong lane!

It's just a bad design - when the centerline goes away, the lane is still two lanes wide, and it's just a mess of people trying to merge.

What traffic engineers need to do, IMO, is have a distinct, perpendicular line indicating the exact spot that a lane ends. Then nobody has cause to get angry about somebody driving down an empty lane because you know when you're supposed to merge.

I would much much rather have a 400 lb. lighter S2000 than one with 40 more hp.

The hp wars have gotten retarded. I think they've actually done a disservice to sports car enthusiasts. Powerplant engineers (bless them) keep giving more and more power, allowing overall vehicle weights to continuously increase as well >

GM has already gone on record as saying the next Corvette will concentrate more on reduced weight for performance, and will have a smaller less-powerful engine. FINE by me!

less weight > more hp
