Thermal coating exhaust
Insulating the exhaust will keep the gases hotter and make it flow better. You have to balance this improvement with the potential corrosion and heat stress to the pipe.
The best coating would be ceramic I have gone the Jet Hot route inside and out from the manifold all the way back to the cans. There is no gap between the coating and pipe surface to promote corrosion and the coating protects the metal from thermal stress.
My primary goal was drone soundproofing and the performance aspects were a bonus. The jethot coating protects the soundproofing layers around it. I have a thermal gun and after a 10 min vtec session, the exhaust temp coming out of the tailpipe reads around 500-650 F while the pipe surface measured right behind the resonator reads 300ish.
Here is a link to my last show and tell with my invidias.
