Post Invidia Tamed

I had a chance to compare my magnaflows and an invidia side by side and I noticed the Invidia had an octave LOWER pitch that really rounded out the sound that I was looking for. I have extensively droneproofed my S, as detailed here

Dynamat / Quietcoat =>drone (3-5K RPM) killer
https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=275932

and I had experimented on directly droneproofing my resonatorless magnaflows by heatwrapping here

Heatwrap your catback

Here are some before and after car pics

I found a used Invidia in good shape and a GREAT price and went to work.

Here I JetHot coated the runners

Here is the end product

I LOVE the tapered ends and great finish details that the Invidia has

The Tips really like the heat

I found from my previous heatwrapping of the exhaust, that it was still too HOT on the pipe and coatings would turn brittle and fall off. I also wanted to END any fear of rust associated with prolonged heatwrapping, so I layered

1. JetHot Coating the runners.
2. Heatwrap
3. DAMPLIFIER PRO
4. Spectrum firewall

Looks good! I took the easy way out to kill the drone, used a non resonated test pipe (also Invidia, which acts like a resonator... how ironic). I like the Jet Hot, and I may clean up mine and use it sometime down the road. I've seen Invidias which were old, and they do oxidize. Very nice though.

That's the left tip which gets most of the flow from this design. With all the heatwrap and insulation, the tips get extremely hot now.

When I put the testpipe on with my magnaflows, the volume went up alot from the increased flow. I am surprised people are finding a testpipe as a cure for the invidia.

It is louder throughout the powerband, but the drone is greatly reduced if not eliminated.

Side by side, a fuji is no match for the sound quality of an invidia And to top it off, no bleeding ears

This will work for any exhaust that is blindingly loud in the cabin btw.

I would like to see a pic from behind with it mounted.

The exhaust on the car for all those whose mind are in the gutter (like mine).
