Default Thermal Research Exhaust update

A few months ago I started a thread on a Thermal Exhaust system and never gave anyone any updates because I got busy. Well I called them back today and here is what I found out. They are so busy with production that they haven't had time to prototype any new exhaust systems (They are also working a WRX exhaust). I was hoping to get it done before the Irvine Meet so everyone could see it and hear it, but there is no why it can be done so you will have to wait until later to see it and hear it. As for the single exhaust they are worried about the sound. Thermal said that they did a single out on a Honda once (forget what kind of car, I think it was a Accord V6) and the interior sound level was 116db. If you think that this is fine then post here and I will e-mail them your comments. As soon as I can find out more about this exhaust I will post it. Sorry once again for the delay.

116db!!! damn, that's louder than a jet taking off. I think a lot of us would become deaf. Would be interesting to see what their exhaust looks like after it's done and what kind of performance gains you can get.

I am not sure that they are going to dyno the car. They said with a lot of the newer cars there has only been a 1-4 hp gain so they are working on making their exhaust systems lighter than OEM and making sure it has a deep sound. From what I have seen with other exhaust systems they are right.

Yeah, 116 dBA can't possibly be right. Typically open-air arenas that host rock concerts madate no more than 120 dBA on the stage! That is truly a deafening level.

Maybe they measured it in dBmA? That would be 86 dBA, a much more reasonable number for WOT operation...

I am not sure how they got the measurement, but the woman I talk to there said she could hear the car when it was 1/2 mile away from there shop. I was going to do a single exhaust, but I think I am going to stick with the dual. I went driving with reecespieces this last weekend, he has a spoon single exhaust, it sounded great, but he said it is very loud inside the car. I will give up a little performance to have a quiter exhaust. My car is already Yellow, add a super loud exhaust and tickets will follow.
