Are they tailgating, or am I imagining things?
Probably a little from column A and a little from column B. Parallel park at varying distances from the car behind you and then take a look in the rearview mirror if you want a definitive answer and to get a better feel for distances relative to what you're seeing.
We had a similar post years ago and I said the same thing then that I'll say now.
Perspective.
You're sitting really far back in a car that has a long hood and a short trunk.
Most cards in front of you will be significantly further away than the cars behind because you're sitting further back.
Not to say people dont tailgate, but if you stopped in place and got out, they may not be as close as you think.

I'm used to driving cars bigger than the S2000 so I think its just me. But more and more recently I feel like people are tailgating me, and much more frequently than before I feel like people are trying to park in my car's trunk when pulling up to a red light or stopped traffic.
It happened this morning again on the way to work, and I threw up my hands in the air like "wtf" to the guy in back as we slowed, and he had the nerve to do the same thing to me as if it was *me* doing something wrong. Then I start thinking that the problem may in fact be in my head, and I'm literally sitting a few feet from the rear bumper and that the S2000 is just a very short short and small car so everything else may just appear closer and bigger.
Oooorrrr... the car is so damn sexy that everyone needs to get a closer look at that ass?

I am constantly being tailgated and just generally pushed around on the roads (mainly freeways) here in the Los Angeles area. Just gotta be a defensive driver and never be afraid to tell people to back off, nothing wrong with a brake check.
i run into a lot of people just dont see the car...i cant count how many times in a week that someone in the lane next to me just decides to come on over into my lane...it boggles my mind...whenever i drive i have to have constant focus just because everyone else is an idiot
