the only vandalism I encountered was some A-HOLE that got key happy on my rear QT-panel.....F***ing haters! I have a pretty good idea who it is though, not completely, but 80% sure.... i am waiting for the right time to question HER.... hence the word "her" meaning the other sex..... (no appreciation for nice un touched paint)

I believe that "fortifying the ECU" referrs to locking down the unit, so a thief can't remove it.
growing up in the city I've known little shit heads that used to steal cars. They told me the easiest way to steal an S2k was through the ECU...now they didn't go into detail but I can find out for ya if you want. One of them found out that I bought an S2k and told me to either relocate the ecu or make a metal box to cover it rendering it inaccessable to thieves.

It doesn't sound probable that a thief would spend around $10,000 for a spare ecu w/ key to steal a car. The whole point of being a thief is you don't want to spend any money..... unless ofcourse the spare ecu and key were stolen also 
I love it when someone in an expensive car (especially a BMW) takes up 2 spaces. If im in my beater, I just pull in real close next to them on the same angle. That way I can get out no problem, but they will have to make their door lean on mine to get in

You really can't spend too much time worrying about the car, or you may as well not have it. Seat thefts seem to be fairly common, so seat locks may provide you some sense of security. But, some thieves get angry when they discover the seats won't come out easily and tear them, and the interior of the car, up. Or they are amateurs and tear it up anyway. I agree with Mike above, that garaging your car is probably the best defense (mine is garaged), but there is no foolproof way to protect your car if someone really wants to steal it or the stuff in it.
