Default Thinking about getting s2k

Hi everyone. noob speaking here.

I am thinking about getting an s2k, mainly because of its performance and the convertible top.

However, here's some of my worries.

I live in California, around san francisco bay area(Mountain View).
3 of my friends' car got broken in last year. They are not even driving high end vehicles, just corollas, accords.. etc..

We don't have garage parking, only covered parking in here. As a result, I have some concern about parking a soft top s2k outside.

I really don't want a hard top, because I think it's not quite convenient that I can't just take the top down/up whenever I want.

I heard that the s2k seats can cost 6000 dollars and are break-in magnets.
Does anyone have any experience on that?

What do you experts think?

Thanks in advance.

I would be a little worried about not having a garage to park it in. You could get seat locks, but most likely theyll mess up the interior since theyre pissed and youll have to replace the seats and the soft top. You could also get an alarm system but if its something thats not going to let you sleep at night and constantly be worried then I wouldnt bother IMO. Sucks that its that way though

Usually when theives break into a car they cause a lot more damage than just seats. In my car they took the odometer as well and scrached some panels. If you are not 100-90% sure about safety of the car it will get hit sooner or later. Also getting the car fixed can be quite a painful process as well(and I dont mean the heartache).

Low deductible full coverage is really the only answer. For the record, my S is always garaged. I've only left it overnight on the streets once when I was visiting friends in Santa Cruz.

Personally, I would not leave mine on the streets, but I see quite a few that are always outside.

Civics and corollas are stolen more because they have a huge parts resale market. I would bet a neighborhood with an S and a civic would see the civic stolen first; unless both are stolen at the same time. haha.

Seriously though, cover your ass with a low deductible and just enjoy one of the greatest driving experiences. I personally decided against seat locks and the such as I figure they'll have done enough damage just breaking into the car that I might as well just save the money for paying the deductible. Convoluted logic, but hey.
