Thinking about puchasing a 2003 S2K, any tips or recomendations..........
I haven't done much research on purchasing the car, but after I drove my friend's 2001 S2K, I fell in love. Just needed to know if they are still tacking on premiums on them. I've also read some post about buying out of state and just wanted more info on that too. Also, any recomendations for dealers in Souther Cali? TIA for any info.

You can find them for sticker now pretty much everywhere, so if you find a dealer jacking up the price, tell them their competitors aren't doing this & be ready to walk. You'll find one, tho you may have to get on a list, depending on what color you want. Blue is the most rare (& worth waiting for, imho, tho any color is great on this fantastic car). This board is a great source of info, too.
Good luck!

If you buy out of state make sure you find a local dealership that is good and honest (and a tech that knows the S). Buying the car is easy but finding a dealer that will take care of you is tough. Before you buy out of state check you state laws on tax and how it has to be paid......

Yeah, what they said....
The major gripe is the dealearships screwing things up after the point of sale. There was someone who posted today that said that to get a s2 in chicago for a better price he would end up (after shipping etc.) paying the same buying for msrp in socal.

At this point in the year, buying an S2000 (MY 2002) should be no problem at MSRP, even in Calif.
Exception is the Suzuka Blue. They will mark this up, guaranteed. I was at the dealer last week and they had three S2000s. One red, one silver, one blue. The red and silver were at MSRP. The blue was marked up $4000.
It can also depend on the color you want, too. If you want a hard-to-get color, and you really want to buy the car, and are willing to put in the extra time and effort involved to get the car from a different state; taxes, license, smog, transportation, etc.- and it is more economical to purchase the car this way, then by all means do it.
As for the MY 2003, why wait? There's not a whole lotta difference, and in my humble opinion, the future is now- enjoy the ride now- you never know what the future holds. Good luck!

I don't know why the blue is so hyped. It is somewhat unique but is kind of a girlish shade of blue IMO. I think the markup is there because salesmen know guys will pay the extra to appease their wives.
