I wonder if those "less than MSRP" deals were on cars that had a few options added? That would easily explain it because there is quite a bit of markup on those dealer installed options like the alarm, front chin spoiler, and rear spoiler. I wonder if anyone has been able to get one for less than MSRP with zero options?

S2Ken,

$32,700 is awsome.

Don't buy any options.

You can get everything online for cheaper.

That's a fair deal. My advice is to go for it.

I nearly got the front and rear spoiler online (cheaper than what the dealership was asking) but changed my mind to enjoy the warranty (only valid when purchased at the time you purchase the car). I printed out the online page showing handaccessories prices and showed it to the sales manager. He matched those prices, and then some. He installed them for the same price. I ended up with the best of both worlds and would advise you to at least try this tactic. It can't hurt.

There have been a few minor problems with the car. Nothing major for the most part and very few and far between for this type of car. Remember, it's still a Honda and few cars made in the world are better built (IMO).

I would avoid any accessories that you don't want. Simple. If you garage the car, don't buy the car cover. I bought a cockpit cover online that is tiny by comparison and covers the inside of the car when it is parked in the structure here at work. Just use your judgement.

As to the yellow question. The spa yellow pearl is a different color all together from the yellow that Honda has previously used on the 'lude and CRX. It is, in fact, the same yellow used on the NSX. The yellow on the 'lude and CRX looked faded day one and if not taken care of, they got worse.

I think the yellow is awesome and very nearly bought that combo (my fiance liked the silver/red better and I was split). If you keep wax on it (as you should no matter what color you buy) and take care of the car, you'll be good to go for a long time. CAVEAT - the yellow attracts bugs. Sounds funny, but there have been other posts on this board, the IS300 boards and my buddy with a yellow 996 Porsche can testify. Just something to keep in mind because it can be particulary bothersome when you have a convertible.

Good luck. I hope you buy the car and experience the same rich, and visceral thrill that we all get.

I'll be honest. I paid close to $3000 above sticker and I am totally satisfied. I love that car and would have paid more. So anything at MSRP is sweet. I ofcourse reside in Southern California, the land where the top is ALWAYS down

I paid MSRP and they messed up on the deal and quoted me $800 low. So I had the extended warranty thrown in. I came out pretty good. Anyway my point to this is, I know the options are available cheaper elsewhere, but some of them might be better to get from the dealer so the warranty will cover them. Like electronic components. Alarm etc. It's up to you. I love my yellow Melissa.

Ken, one warning about the side strakes (option) is that you have to drill holes to install them, and some people have had problems with them coming off. I was about to get them until I discovered the S2000 group and learned about that.

There seems to be some confusion over this post so I'll try to set people straight.

When I posted this message (my first ever here on the S2000 forum) I was posting on behalf of my buddy Tbone (aka Thomas Laporta) who was considering buying an S2K at that time. He did not visit here and didn't have any of that info so I thought I would do him a favor and post here, gather up the info and forward it to him. He ultimately bought an S2K and is very happy with it, I've driven it, nice car! (good color too!)

I simply said that "I" was buying it to save a lot of trouble explaining that it was a friend who was looking, etc. etc. apologies if I confused anyone in doing so.
