Default thinking of getting an intake....

I have searched and read many things about the intakes available for our cars. I think I have it narrowed down to Injen or Comptech.

I need your thoughts. The 2 most important things for me are HP gain and Sound. I want that good screamin DOHC intake sound, but something not overbearing.

I know the comptech CAI is supposed to be waterproof and won't suck up water.

has anyone had water problems with the injen or comptech CAI's?

Water protection?? you mean 'bypss-valve'?

I have AEM CAI and the bypass valve cost me additional 40 bucks for the part. It keeps the intake from sucking water into the engine.

Yea, you can buy the by-pass valve if you're concerned about hydrolocking. Actually, there was a post a few weeks ago about somebody drivnig through a huge puddle in heavy rain and he hydrolocked the engine (AEM CAI). I don't know what happened or if he got it repaired, but it just shows that you'd have to be going through a really deep puddle to hydrolock.

I would have gone Comptech, but the fitment issues (especially if you have an '02 with the repositioned horn) are a joke.

I'm gonna be one of 4IGS2000 guinea pigs with the AEM clone (if he ever quits saying "next week")
