thanks stwok!
more proof that the honda service folks dont read this stuff-
i took my car, with 11k miles to the dealer and asked them to put synthetic in it... they told me that i was one oil change too early- unlike what the service update says!
i will be going synthetic soon!
(wish i had seen your post before i took the car in)

Winter oil is Mobil One 5W-30 w/ PureOne filter (the best I've come across).
Next oil change will be with Redline 10W-30 for the other three seasons. The PureOne remains.
From their web site, here's one reason why:
The PureONE filter has a BETA ratio of 7.2 at 10 microns. This corresponds to an efficiency rating of 86.1%-meaning that the PureONE filter removes 86.1% of 10 micron-sized particles and above from contaminated oil-43.5% better than the closest competitor!
http://www.pureoil.com/
Been using this filter exclusively since 1999 and I've experienced nothing but wonderful results.

Thanks Guys for all the insight. I think I might just go with the M1-104 when it comes time to change the filter. And after 7,500 miles I will go MOBIL 1 synthetic all the way.

Breaking-in means engine wear . If you want fast break-in then you need rapid engine wear, therefore you should use only dyno oil. If you want longevity, then Synthetic oil should be Ok from the get go, just like in other high performance engines (M cars, AMG cars, Porsches, Mitsu EVO, etc).

I've used Mobil 1 since the first 600 miles, along with a Mobil 1 filter every 3750 miles (if you are paying $5 for a quart of oil, what's an extra $5 for the best filter?). So far I have 50,000+ miles on my car, with multiple autocross events, and tracking weekends. Oil consumption is minimal but that's probably because of the way I drive (frequent high RPMs). Running strong without any problems at all.

I've used both the Honda OEM (PCX) filters and the HAMP filters. Both have been fine. Car currently has 59k miles on it. For oil I've been using either Mobil 1 Synthetic or Redline 10W30, whichever is more convenient to buy at the time.

just use a plain old fram filter.. filter is filter..
unless someone can proove to me technically better why change. i never had problem with fram...
plus so much easier to just hand tighten and loosen the filters..
