I don't remember the part number.
I bought mine from www.summitracing.com
Yes you do have to do some moding.
I cut out the wall in the airbox.
Just check the faq at s2ki that link above.

while on the subject how often are people cleaning these things.
I cleaned mine after 10k miles. should I do it more often?

The K&N part # most people (including me) use is the RE-0810. It requires minor modifications to the airbox lid, or the willingness to "crush" the filter slightly when re-installing the lid. It is still a less than perfect fit, unless you remove the entire interior wall fo the airbox.

I speculate that the RE-0910 might work better, but have not tried it.

At least one person thought that K&N was working on a true S2K replacement filter, not a general purpose filter that happens to kinda sorta fit.

Carparts.com sells the 810 for a good price, and often has discount coupons, although you won't find the part on their web site; you need to call them.

Here is the appropriate page out of the K&N catalog, hosted on the martel brothers web page.

The request for this info seems to resurface frequently, and the s2ki faq seems somewhat incomplete. Tfota? can you paraphrase this info and include it in the s2Konline faq?

The 0910 Throat opening is not a match, unfortunatly the filter size is. The mod to the box is really simple using a utility knife. I put the 0810 in my car and am very happy with it.! definatly worth it.

I just archived this thread in the Technical Archives, so people can always find it there.

You would get free shipping if you order from summitracing.com. I ordered mine from there and it came within 3 days.

Also note that the minor modifications to the airbox with a utility knife technically disqualify you from SCCA A-stock autoX competition.

No modifications to the airbox allowed, no matter how minor. Now a new filter is perfectly legal...
