Default Thoughts on using 06 ECU on 00-05 S2K

This has probably been talked about before but I couldn't find a thread on it during my Search.

I saw that Hondata has released an ECU Flash for the 06 S2k's and a thought came to mind on what would be involved in using an 06 ECU in a Pre-06 vehicle. My thoughts lead me to believe that a Pre-04 vehicle would be out of the picture altogther due to engine displacement differences but I may be wrong. The cost and benefits of going with an 06 ECU may end up being more expensive then a standalone setup but that's why I am asking the question.

Please discuss...

It can't be easily done, the engine will have to be converted to 06 specs. You'll need the engine wiring harness, intake manifold, all DBW harware, a returnless fuel system. Possibly some minor differences in the Evap system as well.

Best to buy an 06.

See the Sticky at the top of UTH on the differences for the 06.

although the hondata seems like an awesome plug and play mod for the 06, wasnt these tuning capabilities possible with emage, ems etc etc etc? also the down side of the 06 is that none of the SC kits work with them, i still think pre 06 models still have the advantage

yes you can get these same tuning possibilities with EMS, etc. also, the hondata flash for the 06 REQUIRES the toda header.

back to the OP, the cost of trying to get an 06 ECU to work on an 00-05 S2k would probably cost as much as a turbo or supercharger.

Bumping

Flashpro is out for these ecu's and without changing major parts of the car, couldn't a device convert the DBW input from cable to mimic the input?

No, but a modify type person might be able to swing it since there will be a bigger demand for these Ecu if it's a simple add-on.

theoretically, anything CAN be done with enough $$$$ thrown at it, but at some point you gotta say why bother.

unless you're Jay Leno, he can afford to do whatever he wants to a car.
