Default 06+ ecu and parts possible for 00-05?

Due to the cost of a kpro I was thinking about this today. Since the sensors have to be changed in the engine anyways, would it be possible to add a 06+ s2k ecu, 06 engine wiring harness, intake manifold and drive by wire throttle body, along with the 06+ valve cover and sensors to a f20c to make it all work? That way we could just use a kpro handheld for tuning?

Has anyone done this?

In theory it should be possible but I have never heard of anyone actually doing it. I think you would also need to swap the accelerator pedal as well.

This would caost a lot more than the K-Pro would, and many things in the car would still not work correctly. Your "shortcut" would take you in completely the wrong direction and end up costing you 2 to 3 times what you are trying to save.

I wondered if this would be a true cost-saver also. What kind of things do you suppose wouldn't work? My initial guess would be all the VSA stuff (and the lack of VSA is part of the reason I bought a MY05 in the first place) Any advantages to just buying the KPro? Like additional capabilities it would bring over the method the OP is suggesting?

Kpro would be cheaper in the end, trust me. Kpro is only 1400 with oem parts right now

I have actually pondered this also. You part out cars, and if you have the parts laying around you could probably pull it off for really cheap. I haven't dug into a AP1 and AP2 to know if there are too many differences. Im sure you can work through them or fabricate stuff for the differences. It all boils down to how creative you want to be. I just figured KPRO for me is the easiest in the long run.
