throttle cable vs drive-by-wire

well, there is a difference but, you cant really tell. it happens to both cars for different reasons. it's when the throttle hangs at idle around 1500 rpm. i dont know why the my06 does it, it happens to most dbw cars. the pre my06 can be fix with the map wack. it does it on certain occasions, rarely but it does. usuaully no one will notice, but if you ever kick in your clutch rolling to a stop about 50 ft in front of a redlight, it might do it. but other than that, the dbw is really working with vsa, turn off vsa and it will be the same as other years.
i drove a cone course @mid-ohio for a high performance driving class, first in my '03, then in one of their dbw ap2s. this is within say 10 minutes of eachother.
liked my car a lot better. i maintain that if you drive them back to back you'll notice. and i hate dbw.
but most people disagree and say its all in my head, so ymmv.

I drove an 06 back-to-back with my 05 at autocross and felt a difference. The throttle response for pre-06 is noticeably more responsive... with DBW there seems to be a bit of a lag from putting the right foot down to propulsion. For spirited/racing situations I would definitely prefer cable. Under normal driving conditions though, I am pretty sure it would be hardly an issue.
as you can see, most people can't tell the difference. i test drove two 2004 S2000s before buying my 2007, and i also didn't really notice a difference at all. i would venture to guess that it's a psychological thing for most people who say there's a difference, because it's pretty minimal.
overall, the DBW throttle is well done. if you want to see one that's done poorly, drive a 2004-2008 acura TSX...one of the worst, vague throttles i've ever experienced.

hey! i'm not the only one. thank you. exactly what i experienced.
Honda dropped the ball on the 8th gen civics IMO. They may have it figured out now, but I definately prefer my cable 04S over the dbw in my civic, very noticeable difference. There were numerous threads and complaints on the dbw over at 8thcivic.com. If the s2ks dbw isn't that different, why didn't Honda get it right in the civic?
