Default Throw out bearing problem!

Took the car in this morning for a scheduled appointment to have creak in the clutch diagnosed. I arrived at Honda City in Levittown, NY at 7:30 the car was not looked at until 2:30. Fortunately this is the only problem I had with my experience at the dealership. The shop on a whole was first rate, from the service writer to the tech. The tech, Charley Ryder, was excellent. I can not say enough about him. He was polite, intelligent and best of all knowledgeable. He took the time to talk to me one-on-one instead of relaying the diagnosis through the service writer. I had thought that the problem was in the nylon bushings under the dash board. I was wrong. It's the throw out bearing! This as you can imagine is a big problem. Now the transmission must be dropped down for the fix. My biggest problem is the fact that the car will have to be laid up for seven to ten days! First they open her up, then order what needs to be replaced, then they install and reassemble. Not cool. Not happy.
My only comfort is in knowing that I have a good pair of hands on her. While he's at it Charley is also going to perform TSB 00-054 the new clutch disc.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to speed up the process? Thanks for reading, needed to vent.
And a many thanks to Beig for recommending Charley. Your a life saver!

Why would they need to order a TO bearing? Or a clutch or pressure plate, for that matter? Those should all be regularly stocked wear items.

not sure about NY, but in PA i have had NO luck finding any dealer that stocks s2000 anything. I am waiting for the clutch disc for TSB054 as we speak. Can't they order the parts and then disassemble your tranny? at least then you can drive it until the part arrive.

Even here in Houston, TX (City of 4+ million) there is not one dealer that stocks anything to our cars. Every thing that I have needed has been shipped from Ohio.

I have extra throw-out bearing with me.
So if I can be any help to you, contact me.

Don't ask why I have a new throw-out bearing with me, basically my loss is your gain.

My dealer told me when I took mine in for the clutch, window regulator and spark plug TSB's that they stock all of the most often used parts and the dealers through out the state come to them for parts.

I did stump them on one part that I had them change, a rubber seal under the hood at the base of the windshield. They had to order it, but they only had the car for 2 1/2 days all told.

Good luck,
Bob

I have the same problem. When i leave in the mornings in reverse, as soon as i reach the friction point, I would hear a thumping rattle in the clutch. This happens in 1st just leaving in the morning too to a lesser extent.

I am not sure if I should bring it in or wait till I change the clutch later.

No reason for car to be down that long. My dealer can order any part and get it overnight. They can tear it down 1st day, order parts by 2:30 and they will be there next morning. 2-3 day should be max.

Andrew,
That's what I thought. I am going to run the next day air idea by them tomorrow. I'll pay for the shipping that's not a problem. I just don't want to leave the car there that long.

lehighwiz,
I can't drive the car while the parts are in ship. Once it's apart it stays disassembled until the parts arrive. They're trying to save time.

FormerH22a4, you have PM
