Yesterday, I spoke to my usual dealer service department (Autoway Honda of Clearwater, FL) about scheduling the seatbelt recall work and the transmission work, as well as the recall work on my '94 Accord, only to be told that they wouldn't do the work on the transmission unless Honda of America told them they had to!

So I called the Honda zone office today and explained what happened to an incredulous representative at Honda, who promised to call Autoway and get it straightened out.

Meanwhile, I was in contact with Classic Honda in Orlando about another matter, and in discussing my current SNAFU with the person there, she suggested I speak to Billy Walker in their service department. She transferred me, I talked to him for about 5 minutes, explaining what happened, and had made arrangements to have the seatbelt and TSB 55 taken care of: all without seeing the car and with NO hassle!

Yes, I will have to drive 90 miles to have the work done on my car, but seeing as he has already done this procedure on 4 other S2000's already and was more than willing to accomodate me rather than hassle me, I'm happy to go the distance.

Oh, and the funny part: he apologized for the loaner he would have to give me (a new Civic), seeing as I was leaving an S2000. I laughed! Autoway only gives you a ride home in their freaking courtesy van!

Also, Classic was also the dealership that hosted our first FL meet in March, complete with a tremendous barbecue, goodie bags, and front row parking (having moved half of their inventory into the back).

All in all, KUDOS to Classic! Boo hiss to Autoway...

Suggestion...

While everything's still fresh in your mind, write the zone office a letter and copy both dealers outlining what a pain it the *** one was, and what a pleasure the other was to work with. Copy both general managers at both dealerships.

Fla: I was going to do that when the work is complete... No official kudos until the job is finished!

Hey Sondra.. had the seatbelt recall done at
Classic 10 days ago. Decided to wait for the tranny fix for now. Classic was great.. at least in comparison to Coggin Honda. They took their time and didnt hurt the S at all. They even gave me a loaner car albeit a Hyundai Accent What a piece of sh!t!!
Anyway since Classic isnt in the greatest neighborhood in Orlando.. just remind Billy you want to make sure they keep it inside especially since its liable to take a couple of days for both fixes. Hope your experience is as good as mine was.

I live in Tampa, and bought my S2K from Classic in Orlando for the same reason. Yes I have to go 90 miles, but I'm treated like I'm their only customer. Also, nobody in the Tampa/St Pete area would go less than $6k over sticker for a new 2001, Classic beat them by a long shot!

Hey! I'm the first person to get the 1-2 grind done at Classic, and yes Sondra, Billy Walker is a first rate guy.

My whole ordeal went smoothly, and I would recommend anyone who needs their S2000 serviced to go there. As a matter of fact, the 2001 Civic (if it is a silver 4 door) is the same car that I had. 1200 miles in 8 days, that's what I put on it. No CD player, though.

My only gripe? I could not get my window warrantied there. Oh well. But they did completely detail my car!

It is worth the drive. Those guys (in service) are the best. Tell them Elion said "Hi!"

As a brand new, two days ago, owner of a Silver/Red S2000 I was wondering if you could explain these recalls and what I might ask for at the dealer? Also I've never driving a VTEC before and would like some advise on the break in period and what I should do to assure a smooth break in and future driving fun.

Thank you, Dan

Elion: Why didn't you say that this was you? Glad you found us! Nice to "see" you again!

I'll be having my 1-2 fixed the first week of January; we should all get together the day I pick it up!
