Default Does anyone have a

.......A client of mine that worked in the finance dept at Honda Carland has advised me that I should always try to have the same mechanic work on my car. I am getting ready to have the 7,500-mile service and I was wondering if anyone had any names or recommendations for a particular mechanic at Honda Carland that I should always request.

Thanks in advance,
Brad

Remember, all Honda Service Departments have Mechanics with different skill levels. They are not going to allow the same Master Mechanic who replaces your clutch to change your oil. It's not cost effective to pay the same guy to do both jobs.

You'll probably need to establish a relationship with two mechanics, one for routine maintenance and one for serious work (if you need any).

Your best bet is to speak with the Service Manager (John Garland) he is very customer oriented.

I use Steve Holloway at Hennesee Honda. He started working on Honda motorcycles back in the '70s and has done nearly all my work on every Honda I have ever owned since I was 12 ( 30 years ago...). He was best friends with one of my friend's older brother so he was always willing to help me out although now he won't accept a 12 pack for services rendered like he did back then. He is an honest guy and won't advise you to do work that isn't needed. Just tell him that David sent you there and he will treat you right.

Learn about your car and try to do some simple maintenance yourself. Buy a shop manual from Helms (I think it's under $80), It's great in very good detail and lots of pictorial and step by step instruction! (I think that's what the Honda mechanics use). If you know more about your car, you won't be ripped off or cheated by people (or knowing what the mechanic had screwed up)
It's also fun too!

Plus it's great to know how the VTEC actually works! And in the future, you might be able to tune your own car just by setting the "programmable ECU" and adjusting the "cams". (those are aftermarket parts, if they ever come out on the market)

I'm not sure about anyone at Honda Carland, just ask Johnny like Dave said; he's a good guy. Honda Carland is just too far for me. As for Gwinnett Honda, they sucks! do not go there for anything! I usually take my car to this performance shop called "Mahdavi Motorsports" run by two brothers Sam and Arash, they have done pretty good work for me so far (and for pretty resonable price) on my CRX. Plus they are closer to me than any Honda dealers.
