Thumbs up Thumping noise @ rear

When I go over rough road or sharp pavement cracks, there is a new thumping noise that seems to emanate from behind the seats. It doesn't seem to be a loose seat or seatbelt; doesn't seem to be the frame for the top; and it's not a loose mini-spare tire. The rear spring spacers have been removed.

Any other ideas? Is there any other top mechanism that could be rattling/ thumping? I checked the various FAQ's and did not find any help. My 03 is a creampuff with 17k miles....just purchased over the summer....so this is my first winter (top up mostly here in Peeay )

Thanks for any suggestions

My car does the same thing when going over certain bumps or depressions on the highway or poorly paved/maintained roads. The rear end seems to bottom out and yes my convertible latches rattle at the same time. Drives me crazy! Don't know if Honda ever redesigned the top latch mechanism for later year modes...I drive a '00.

Perhaps this may be a possible solution..

Thanks for that link, but I can't imagine that it's the shocks....unless there is an attachment to the OEM that could become loosened

It's also not the latches. I had that problem with my '00 S and had the latches replaced under tech bulletin #???

Maybe I should have described the problem more as a 'rattle'....as if your seat bolts were loose.

s2kVABeachCruiser, rattling soft top latches could be due to the strikers (what the latch connects to.. top of the A pillar). There was a TSB for this. The solution is to replace the stikers with hardtop strikers. tutorial: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=302425

Also, people have fixed rattling latches by putting some fish tank air tube over the latch hook.

Check the spare and ensure it is tight.

Did it once a week or so ago, but will take it out and re-secure it carefully. Thanks
