Tickets anyone?
Here's something to think about- was looking at some life insurance this weekend, and one of the questions to assess risk was how many moving violations in the past 3 years have been issued. Well, if I had any, I might have been bumped up out of the lowest risk category and the premiums can go up significantly. I think I recall the same type of question on my disability policy.
So, not only do the tickets cost money directly, but they can also indirectly.
None of the policies asked about racing/autocross!
This is not to say I think that speeding is bad. Most drivers routinely and SAFELY drive 5-10 mph above the posted limits. What I can't stand though is "wreckless" driving. And that definition is so hard to define, but you know it when you see it.

Pulled over numerous times. . .I think 6 times (in a litle less than one year's worth of ownership...and only 6 months worth of driving), but no tickets!!!
