Actually, all cars' windows and windshields do that already ... without the need of tint.
[QUOTE=jah,Nov 30 2008, 05:24 PM]i think its the green content that fades.
Some states and some cities too have laws that restrict the amount of darkening window tint can provide. We've got that here in Oklahoma. Not a commie state by any definition. More of a "Guns and God" state, unfortunately.
on decision on tinting windows (side and back) I'd first check to see what is legal where you live, and then do the most you can do.

CVC (ca vehicle code) states you can have 70% on the front which is really really really light.
the rear you can go double limo if you want. if anything you should definitely tint the rear to help with headlight glare from trucks and suvs. i'm going to tint my car soon and probably go with 30% on the back and maybe 40% on the front.

dark tint on front windows = one more reason to get pulled over and hassled over something so minor... unless you have other stuff to get in trouble for

But that doesn't mean OEM windows don't protect you from UV ... you may feel it's hot, but your aren't getting struck by a lot of UV.
I can assure you, during summer in a tropical climate, more than enough UV passes through OEM glass to sunburn your skin. It's happened to me several times driving cars without tinted windows. That's one of the reasons why all of my cars have tinted windows.
i got 18% (weird i know, they didnt have 15) on the sides and rear hardtop window. since its so small I felt like it was so easy to see in. while it seems dark on the inside, at night its not too bad. i love the look now with tint
I had 5% limo tint all around, it was pretty cool...night vision was shot to shit though. Couldn't park my car backwards and blind spots get even worse.
I live in Cali, so i froze my ass off on non sunny days cause i left the windows down to avoid tickets. Ended up stripping the fronts and will eventually take the back off too, but i don't want to destroy the heater lines.
In the future I'd prolly want to do something like 35% - 50% all around to give it a cleaner look and maybe some super low 70% 90% up front on the windshield for uv purposes? iono.
