I can assure you, during summer in a tropical climate, more than enough UV passes through OEM glass to sunburn your skin. It's happened to me several times driving cars without tinted windows. That's one of the reasons why all of my cars have tinted windows.

You are correct - auto glass provides very small if any UPF protection. That is one of the main reasons to get tint, that and it looks better, and gives some privacy.

I went with 32 or 35, Whatever is legal in OR the other is WA legal.
