tire pressure gauge
I recently checked the air pressure in my tires and seem to get varied readings as much as 15psi. Since the pencil gauge is probably 40 years old, its time for a new one. Anyone have a good one to recommend?
I prefer gauges and the ability to see pressure at points finer than a single psi, like tenths of a psi. I also prefer gauges with a rubber hose to get a proper fit and with a bleed valve. And I prefer analog to digital - you can see immediately if you've seated the gauge properly.
A pencil gauge will do in a pinch, but I don't find them that accurate and you can't easily bleed air if the tire is overinflated.

Take a look at these--- they make some of the best gauges available and are usually in the $10-18 range depending on whether you get one with a hose. I have one in every car as well as my kids cars--- lifetime warranty if they ever break (sent one back several years ago with a short note saying it was broken and they sent me a new one within a week.
iMHO--The electronic ones are very accurate but I've had trouble with durability on the few I've owned--- the ones I've had are built like any other modern electronic device and not made to withstand dropping it on a concrete floor (which will happen!)
These the most accurate non--electronic ones available -bourdon tube--- every one of mine (I have 6 that are between 3 and 25 years old) all read the exact same PSI )

Here they are on Amazon--good prices--- ones with the hose and bleed valve are $13-- without the hose $9

No relation to them--- just think they're a good product.

One of the car magazines had a story about pressure gauges a few years back. They rated the Joe's Racing 32307 Glow In The Dark 0-60psi Tire Pressure Gauge as a great value so I bought one and have been very happy with it. It goes for +- $20.
