How many miles before you had to replace rears?

1. Under 8,000
2. 8,000 - 10,000
3. 10,000 - 12,000
4. 12,000 - 15,000

What I don't understand is how the hell anybody can get more than 15K on a set of rears. I mean, I'm a 53-year-old guy, for god's sake, and my car gets very few really aggressive miles. My first rears went before 11K and my second set is about 2/3 gone at 17K. IMO, there's just no way I could get 15K on a pair even if my mother were driving all those miles.

This leaves two possibilities that I can think of:

1. Rear alignment; or

2. Different S-02 batches.

I don't think #2 is very likely, so the difference has got to be alignment.

If any of you high-mileage guys have your alignment checked, please post the numbers, would you?

Mine lasted 18000,most of my driving its on higways,
It really needed to be changed at 15000. I almost lost it in a downpour, I stopped to put the hood up and skidded at 40mph.

I then drove it only in sunny days,we had plenty of those this summer.
Total mileage on rear 18730.
in case you ask, I took part in three rallys in New england last summer.

PS; to previous message
I learned to drive racing cars at Brands Hatch, Kent,England,in 1985
the main topic for speed is to create the least friction on the road, thus you save on tyres,
no wheel spinning, you loose traction and tread, and make your corners as straight
as possible.

i agree with the road condition assessment and would add perhaps there is a weather condition factor too. i have rarely driven in the rain or any other adverse conditions (snow, fog, ice, humidity, extreme cold or heat) and i am lucky enough to live in a well maintained area (the roads). ahh, love living in sunny southern california.

although i am at 13K and some change, i know that i have enough to last me past 15K.
