Tires
Need tire recommendations....I have a 100% stock, all original 2009 S2000 that needs new sneakers. It currently has less than 25,000 miles and only gets driven on nice days and less than 2,000 miles per year. I'll await suggestions...thank you
There is no consensus here, some even recommend all-seasons depending on their driving habits year-around! My recommendation of the Bridgestone RE-71RZ a few days ago in post #4 stands. At 2000 miles/year you'll need to replace them when they age out in 7 years anyway so them wearing out at the same time (14,000 miles) is fine with me.
Remember Discount Tire owns Tire Rack so they can get any tire Tire Rack can at the same retail price. (There are a couple Discount Tire shops in my Zipcode and one near you.)

Yes, Discount owns Tire Rack but they do not sell the same stuff. There are tires on Tire Rack that Discount does not offer. Pretty sure we've covered this before but you keep saying it.
But now you can just order from TireRack and install at Discount and get the installation discount either way.
While they may show different stuff on the site, you can get it all through Discount if you ask. That was the case even before they were the same company. Many years ago Tire Rack had an "exclusive" thing with the RE71R. when I took some in to discount to get mounted the guy asked if I ordered through them so I could get the install discount. I said they did not sell them. He told me that if I saw anything on TR that was no on the Discount Tire site to just call the location and ask. He said that they could not only get the RE71R but they would match TireRacks price and then give me the install discount. Even back then they had an agreement with TireRack ahead of the merger.

But like I said, this matters not at all now. You can order from TR, ship direct to DT and get the same install discount you would get if you ordered through DT.
And I was told by the discount tire store I was having install that if TireRack sells them, they have an agreement to be able to get them at discounted price and thus match the TR price to me. They literally bought them from TireRack so if they had them, Discount could get them. Does not matter what they showed on their website he said. he said to call the actual location you want to install and ask. So I am going by my experience. Never hurts to ask.

Yes, you can order off of TR and have them shipped to Discount, but the warranty has to go through TR which is a pain the arse compared to Discounts warranty which is super easy.
My 2004 S2000 has 39,000 miles and I'm on my 3rd set of tires. First OEM Bridgestones wore out at 25,000. Hankooks next, made it to about 37,000 until they fell apart before wearing out. Currently on Firestone Firehawk Indy 500s and I have been very happy. Smooth, sporty handling. They might not be super high end top performance tires, but I have zero complaints.....and the price installed from Discount Tire was great.
