I'd like to sell some parts to a fellow board member in Ohio (I'm in Van., BC, Canada). I noticed that no one's posted on the TITS thread in 2 months, so I'm just wondering if the list for Ohio (Westlake in the NE) is current. Looks like Hardtopguy, signed up for that area.

The real point of my query is because I've been net-raped once or twice, both buying and selling. I was wondering if the deal gets accepted, if Hardtopguy or whomever is trusted in that area, would be interested in acting as a 3rd party - to recieve the goods, at his door, from the courier and allow them to be inspected and picked up by the buyer. He, of course, would be renumerated for his trouble.

I just see it as being beneficial to all parties involved.

Does this sound feasable or do you see some holes or have better suggestions?

Have you tried www.escrow.com/ I used them for a large purchase from the Right Coast to the Left Coast and all went well.

 

TITS was a great idea but it hasn't done shit beyond the first settlement.

I'm saying the purpose of TITS was to help recover money lost. Beyond the first settlement(s), I can't think of a time where they have actually come through on anything else. Hell I think Dave (w1ngman) was robbed of $400 from hchu304 and he is from where TITS started. I won't even bring up some of the other stuff.

I personally have nothing to do with TITS (the organisation). It kinda looks like this thread is headed toward a major flaming of them for not "doing their job". However, the reality of the situation is that there's little they can do other than have someone local visit the party in question to give them a little VERBAL prodding. Otherwise you end up with a vigilante group that is looking toward serious prosecution.

I think we should give them credit for what they have done, but I don't think we should expect them to step in when a visit to authorities may be in order.

Just my unsolicited 2 cents worth.

 

Sideways - this is basically my point. TITS to everyone outside of your area represents a theft/financial loss recovery endeavor. You guys accepted members in that thread on blind faith. It's a useless entity in terms of the original intent of that thread. It hasn't done squat, in fact a couple of names on there have even been involved in fraud in some people's minds. That thread IMO should be closed and just forgotten. TITS as a social club is one thing, but for theft recovery it should be an afterthought.
