Default Tonneau question

Put on the tonneau for the first time this past weekend. Front tabs not as difficult to attach as I thought. Question is the rear tabs. I assume they (the two plastic tabs) just slide between the rear trim piece and the top fabric. Buth they don't seem long enough and the rear eadge of the tonneau would not stay in place. Easy solution would be to add to the plactic tabs and I can do this but am I missing something?

Did you clip on the elastic straps that attach behind the seats before trying to fit the rear tabs? I would think the elastic straps help keep the cover down and the tabs in place. From my experience, the rear tabs don't necessarily lock into place but the cover reaches far enough towards the rear of the car and there is enough force to keep them under the trim piece.

How do you store the cover? Perhaps the rear of the cover has been bent inward and the body of the cover is too narrow to reach under the rear trim piece. Have you tried *gently* bending the rear of the cover out to extend its reach?

The rear portion of my cover naturally does not want to stay down, the front tabs are pulling the rear up away from the rear trim piece. But, the cover has such proportions that the rear fits under the rear trim piece and the friction of the upward force keeps the cover in place.

Long, but hopefully this helps.

Not seeing any other covers in place, I'm not sure if mine is incorrectly shaped or not. I set it in the sun for awhile to soften it before installing. The round outer section fits nicely but then the area behind the seats tends to bow in toward the fabric top. If I push the tabs in where they should go to prevent this, the tabs just pull forward and then the outer corners then pop out. Just seems like longer tabs would solve the problem.

I have the same problem, tabs too short and the rear edge of the tonneau pops up shortly after you start to drive. I glued an extension that adds about 1/2" to the length of the tab, but the glue really does not bond well to the soft plastic tab material so it is a very limited fix.

Where did you get the tonneau cover ? I have been looking for one since I got my S, how many holes in the dash did you have to drill ?

oh wait, you are talking about the BOOT cover...

That is a TONNEAU cover, it covers the entire cockpit and can be unzipped in the middle to keep the passenger side covered while driving.

Mine is the same way, with all the other snaps in place it doesn't move around at all, just doesn't quite fit perfect. It does seem like the longer I leave it on the better it gets though.

Good taste in cars, a little odd since you sold the Spider and kept the Coupe but good taste in cars. My Dino Coupe is the only hardtop car I have ever owned and I only owned it long enough to make it run and sell it for a profit ( about 3 weeks ), my Dino Spider my heirs will have to sell after I die.

I keep mine in my trunk at all times so it comes out with some memory of being folded in half. However the tabs do not need to be slotted in below the trim piece. As long as it's snapped in properly it will be fine.

Funny thing! I tried it again today but paid special attention to be sure the top was fully down. Put the cover on and it fit like a glove. Rear edge friction fit below the trim just like the curved sides did. I guess the top was not going down all the way. Seems like the outer corners of the top didn't stick up as far as when I first tried. Only took about 30 seconds to put it on too. Looks very good. Not sure if all problems with the rear edge is due to the top not being fully down, but mine was.
