TONS of looks/compliments... and ATTN: any Wisc. Dells S2k's!
I am in Wisconsin Dells this weekend for a vacation. I have gotten more looks and compliments than ever. I got there late Thursday night. Friday during the day I had about 10 people comment on my car. I had a guy run up when I was at a downtown intersection stop light, and he just goes "that is the sweetest looking car, EVER!".
Another guy was looking at my car as I backed out of a parking spot. As I kept backing out, he kept walking back trying to see the side of my car. I finally yelled out "Honda S2000". He gave a big smile and
I was waiting to turn left onto a road, and a car straight in front of me was waiting to turn into the place I was just at. He was starting at my car with this huge grin. He got so enveloped in my car that after the intersection was clear and he could go, he just sat there looking at my car, before he finally realized.... doh!
People also shout from the side of the street sometimes "nice car". or "hell yeah, an S2000!". One group of "cowboys" wearing cowboy hats goes "nice car, is that your dad's?"
Okay, so yeah I look really young with a hat on, but come on. I'm 23 and I work damn hard to pay for this car!
Worst comment so far was "is that a Z24 convertible?" Yeah, like chevy makes a convertible Z24 2 seater and puts an "H" emblem on it. ?? WTF?
Anyways, I'll be in the dells for the rest of the weekend. If any S2k's from that area want to meet up for a bit, let me know! I'll be online til about 7pm tonight, so post before then if you can!

Speaking of young kids, I was washing my car yesterday in the yard, and several neighborhood kids between 8-12 years old, boys and girls, came over and asked me about the car with a million questions. Then all of them just sat on the curb for the entire hour watching me wash and wax the car. They hardly said a word. They called it "the car from Star Wars."

VinceD,
I'm on the upper end of the age range for S2K owners and so the connection with the younger crowd is kind of neat. One gal at the Arby's drive up window said "Cool car! Is that the one with the red start button?" Last fall I was driving through Ripley, Ohio and a group of little guys who were walking home from school started whistiling and yelling and giving me the
. I get all sorts of questions at gas stations even from two older ladies once. I didn't buy the car to get attention, but it has been kind of fun and I do enjoy talking to people about it. I don't think the Corvette owner's get that kind of attention since the Vettes are so much more common.

I'm with you on that.
I've learned to use at least 5 "talking points" when someone askes me about the car; basically to answer the most common questions. Like you, I really didn't consciously buy the car for the attention, but for the rarity of it and the fact that I've always owned Honda's. But then, the rarity of it brings it a lot of attention, so maybe unconsciously I needed attention.

Just yesterday, I had a guy in a corvette pull up to me at a stop light telling me he loved the way my car looked. I told him I liked his car too and he started laughing like he thought his car wasn't anything special, but I do like corvettes also. Like you said, corvettes are pretty common nowadays.....maybe he just wasn't use to someone complimenting his car
I took my car in to get a tire fixed today, and the service guy started writing down the make and model of my car - he looks out the window, looks at me and says "BMW?" I smiled and said, "nope, it's a Honda"
"REALLY? It's a Honda??"
Of course, I had to explain to him how to start the car since he didn't notice the start engine button. He kept turning the key over trying to start the car - doh!
