I've heard of people not being able to get on the rack because they're too low, but never the lasers being blocked. Perhaps there is a problem with the shop's equipment? Or maybe they're a rock-climber specialty shop?? Any shop with working equipment should be able to align your car.
You shoudlnt have any issues. As Turbo says, i had my car done when it was lowered over 2.5 inches with no problems.
If there is no one else you can go to, you can always remove the front bumper. Shouldnt take you more than 20 mins and is very easy

It all depends on the alignment machine weather the sensors will be blocked. It's not that uncommon with older alignmet equiptment. I have had to remove the front bumper on a civic that was lowered 3". The sensor "eyes" on the front alignment heads have to be inline when doing the caster/camber sweeps. On cars with a lot of front overhang, or very low bumpers can block the sensors. A 93 Legend with stock front bumper barely clears the alignment rack at my shop.
