Default Too nice to buy?

So I am looking at an S2000 that I want for a fun weekend and occasional track car. I found one that is a 2001 with 20k miles on it. I looked at it and the car is almost perfect, basically like a new car. All the paperwork and accessories are in order. The price is fair for such a low mile car. I would prefer a later ap1 car, but I like this cars color, but second interior choice.

Considering I would like to track it, should I hold out for a higher mile one? You need to add a roll bar to an S for HPDE, right? To do that I have to cut up the interior, right?

This car is very nice, maybe too nice. What do you think?

Looks like you need not a roll bar guess the hoops and windscreen beam are good to go. If you like the car I would buy it. Rare find a new ap1.

It will get thrashed, buy a higher mileage & less expensive car if you're going to use it on the track.

I agree. A higher mileage one will also be lower in price. You can spend the saved cash on performance parts.

Odd, a car is never "too nice". If your going to track it just install quality parts, that way it'll be clean and functional. Protect the paint with a clear bra. You don't want a crappy s2000 as a track car. For instance, I'm not going to buy a beat up r6 for track use. I'm going to buy the best one I can afford and install a cage.

You need to define tracking the car. Hardcore or just some weekend fun 2-3x a year?

More like 1-2 times a year. I will not be going often. I just thought a roll bar was mandatory on an S and did not want to tear it up.

All the club sites around here seem to require the broomstick test.

Buy this one and then get another lower priced one for track. Get two.

You'll want to add the upgraded oil jet bolts to the engine of that one if you want to track it. I agree with the other opinions, get an older lower cost S2000 for the track.
