Default Took delivery on 6/23 Impressions

Hello all!

After months of research and s2K Board lurking I finally got into a Black on Red 2001. I just got out of a 1999 Miata. Here are some first impressions.

Acceleration-No impressions yet, only 240 mi on the clock.
Drivability-S2K wins! Easiest car I have driven since my Del Sol. Clutch is lighter than the Miata. I once thought that the Miata's tranny was unbeatable but I was WRONG The throws on the Stook are shorter and smoother. The Miata is more tossable (mostly due to a 400 pound difference in weight) but the s2k deals with uneven pavement better (especially in turns). The Stook soaks up bad pavement easily. The miata doesnt, sounds like a tin can thrown down a flight of stairs. Road noise is comparable. I can actually feel the suspension working to keep the stook planted in sharp turns. The feel in the miata is different, almost like there is no suspension, I really dont know which is better. For some reason I feel more nervous spinning out in the stook, but that may be due to familiarity, or lack thereof The brakes are great, even better than the miata where nosedive was prevalant. I feel like a man in a superbike when in the Stook, the miata? Well like, Hulk Hogan on a tricycle.
Interior-S2K wins! Incredible. The red interior is just divine. I feel like a million dollars without being presumtuous. I love the simple and elegant minimalist design. I dont know why those magazines knock the "redundant radio controls" I cant imagine the car without them. I agree with the general consensus that the RADIO SUX! I will replace everything as soon as my check book cools off The leather just hugs me in the right places! The Miata's interior is a bit more busy, but classy none the less. There is actually less storage space in the cabin than the Miata! The Honda really needs another glove. I love this interior!
Top-Miata wins. Electric Motor Vs. Tricep power, plastic Vs. glass. I feel that if I had to choose, I would put the miata top on the stook. The miata top is simple and easy to maintain. I just cant believe the amount of work and maintenance the Stook needs to keep the window clear. Everything from plexus to Muz's Mat (which I intend to buy) to the tube, rediculous for a 32K car.
Conclusion- S2K is a bargain buy! I LOVE THIS CAR! Can't wait to break 600 Miles!

See you on the road!
Bobby

if you get an x-brace, the stook will absorb even more bumps.
