Default took my car to the canyons..

Went to the local canyons that i've been going for a few years now..

this was the first time i pushed the car. I noticed that when i'm in V-tec (close to 9100) and i slow down (brake, heel/toe, engine slow down, whatever) for the turn ahead, I have this lag when i accelerate while exiting the turn, although i'm still in Vtec Rpms (always above 6500 when i exit the turn) i step on the gas, and nothing happens for like 1 second, then it goes again...

its hard to say...

any thoughts?

donno, this is my first honda
(240's and FC are all i owned).

other than that, it was a blast...i'm going again later

Try tightening your throttle cable. It comes from the factory with some slack.

I was way past the slack,

i'm basically coming out of a turn onto a short straight way, so i'm gonna try and get max speed until i have to slow down again,

so i'm almost close to flooring it

it could be one of many things. i don't know how old/new your car is, but if this is the first time you actually push your car hard, your ecu may still be "learning" and thus the possible "lag". also, keep in mind that there IS such a thing as too much throttle. the crucial thing about high revving engines is that they require high air velocity going into your intake manifold to povide sufficent air into the combustion chamber. thus when you go from 2% throttle openning to 75%+ throttle openning instantaneously, the air velocity initially drops dramatically to the point that insufficient air gets "sucked" into the combustion chamber and thus the lag. that is why it is always best to briskly but gradually press into the throttle than it is the "smash" into it. the brisk gradual openning will prevent abrupt significant drop in air velocity that can "suffocate" your combustion chamber momentarily thus reducing the possiblity of a "lag."

thnx vtec-junkie,

my car is actually pretty new, 2700 miles on the car, did the mugen style break in (600 miles 5500, then add 500 rpm every 50 miles until 9k)

So i'm assuming its the ecu, like you said

when i meant full throttle, it was sorta more of an exaggeration saying that it wasn't the slack of the throttle line , i do know what your talking about though, and it refreshed my memory, because i do mash the throttle alot, but this lag happened even when i didn't mash it

i'm still learning the car, so when i say push it, it means push to my abilities and not the S

I never had that much power, and power band to work with so i'm actually pretty slow right now, probabaly faster in my stock 91 240 when i had it

soon very soon though..

yes, you have the right attitude when it comes to driving. it is always important to drive within YOUR skill limit and not the limit of the car. i pretty much felt the way you did when i switched from my 99 prelude to my 02 s2000. for a while i felt that i could go significantly faster in my lude than i could in my brand new s2000. in fact, driving the s2000 was liking learning how to drive all over again, since i've been driving fwd for as long as i can remember. now, i'm proud to say, i can go way faster in my s2000 in nearly all situations than i could in my past prelude, and that my friend is a good feeling--to know that you are capable of confidently extracting the performance capability of a vehicle to its limits... anyway, thought i'd share that with you... Happy Motoring...

This was talked about in the past. I believe this happened to an owner at a autox. Something about fuel starvation under hard cornering.
