TOOK OFF COVER OF INTAKE...EXPOSING FILTER...NICE DIFFERENCE!!!
was playin around and saw how easy it came off and removed it. got in the car and i automatically heard the difference and kinda felt the difference as well. the car hums in idle which i like! people say it sounds like i have a supercharger or something!
is this bad in anyway! is there something else i need to do to finish this mod of a little bit?

Hmm, i find Dyno Numbers are fake because the car isnt getting the real effect of ram air. I would have to agree that the airbox out does increase airflow to the engine. Losing 10 HP is only on the Dyno because no airflow is created. Meany hot air is recycled among the car. Without the airbox i might want to say HP is increased on the track if the air flow is cold. Dyno and track data are totally different!@!
Umm... no actually, that's incorrect.
If you test with the airbox cover on, and the retest with it off and see a drop of 10 HP then there is a drop of 10 HP regardless of movement. You may be confusing this with the problem of dyno testing true cold air intake systems compared to stock intakes (where for an accurate test you need to dyno in a wind tunnel).
As for removing the top increasing the airflow - the Honda engineers tune the airbox for maximum HP. It's not simply increasing *exposure* to air that matters, it's actually increasing airflow THROUGH the intake. I've had this explained to me by an engineer and believe me, even with a good basic understanding of fluid dynamics and the physics behind air movement I was lost almost immediately.
Regardless - while removing the airbox cover might make it SOUND like you have an SC, it has the opposite effect on performance. Really.

I tried an experiment at my last track day. I ran with and without the box cover during back to back sessions and noted my terminal speed at the end of the straight. My corner exit speed leading onto the straight was consistent and the head wind was slight for each session.
Cover on = 135 mph
Cover off = 130 - 132 mph
Certainly not scientific, but this seems to agree with dyno results and opinions of other owners. Sure sounds sweet though!

Just my findings.
