Put the top up when you park. I generally do this. Besides it protects the leather.

No, I've been lucky and no one has done anything like that to me.

I have had both a lit cigarette and a 1/2 full beer bottle thrown into my car while it was parked on the street in Palm Beach while having dinner. This was right after the S came out, some punk probably thought it was a Ferrari. I now put my top up whenever I'm away from the car more than 5 minutes.

That is one of the funniest and weirdest things I've ever heard happening while driving.
I think he is talking more about when the car is parked has anyone had people throw trash etc into their car.

Never had anything thrown into the S, but the bed of my Toyota pickup was very popular with the trash throwers.

I'd like to catch somebody doing it..

remember that scene in Caddy Shack..? the woman hurling in the convertible..

this is my 5th roadster, never had an incident of this sort..

But.. when I had my 68 GTO convertible, while cruising down the interstate in mid-town KC with a car-load of dudes, a person in the car ahead of us flicked a lit-butt out the window.. the lit-butt landed in the hair of one of my buddies riding in my back seat (top was down) .. now that was funny..

those were the days (70's)

I think the car draws a little more attention when you have the top down, but I have never had any bad experience with people hating on the car since the top was down. Just get a hardtop and play it safe.

I had a guy spit on my hood yesterday entering the GW Bridge. Mind you I had done nothing to provoke him, nothing at all. He just casually lowered his window and let one out. I bet if I had my top down he would've spit inside. Fawking ASSH*LE!

Things can happen to anyone at anytime. I had a Tracker that I parked once with the top down at a school and someone left a used diaper in it. Classy. I chose not to work at that school again if this was how they were going to treat their teachers.
