Default Top down at all times please

Got caught in the rain today and this is the first time I have EVER driven the S with the top up and man is it noisy! I can hear every whine, creak, rock bouncing off the car and the noise is echoing off everything. I have the OEM exhaust and that sucker is pretty loud and droning already. This thing SUCKS with the top up!

On the plus side I was cruising the FAQs and found this FAQ! YES! Auto window down working! Didn't even know it was supposed to auto roll down like the passenger side , lol

HAPPY FRIDAY ALL!

Yeah, its a lot more pleasant with the top down! I have driven an hour in a pretty steady hard rain before with the top down at 70 mph though, without getting wet. Its when you have to slow down that is the tricky part :P

Lol...Yeah tip down is best. I don’t mind top up as much as you do but I definitely get your point.

If you ever see the Savageese review of the S2000 that is his biggest gripe, basically saying something along the lines of it being a rattle can shit box with the top up. He loves the car and owns one, and he has owned four of them in his lifetime, but yeah it sounds better with top down always. I got mine to sound very quiet with a well adjusted Mugen hardtop, much better than the softop up, but the car always seemed nicest top down. There was also a lot of wind buffeting on the highway with the top up, causing my passenger seat to make noise from the buffeting.

Due to our angry Texas sun, I often drive with the top up. I find it more pleasant with it down, however I disagree about it being a rattle trap shit box. My top and windows makes zero noise when they're up... except the rare occasion that I hit a bone-rattling pothole. The top rattled a bit when I first bought the car. I discovered that I could adjust the rubber bump stops (behind each door) to add some tension into the frame. That and a very light application of shin-etsu on the rubber window seals eliminated all creaking for me. The rest of the car feels super solid.

I love top down whenever I have the opportunity. Our summers are well over 100-110F so not too many convertibles are top down during the day, yet for the three other seasons, especially winter in Phoenix, AZ, it's top down almost all the time.

Drive it on the autobahn for 30 Minutes with 100 MP/H + and you are almost deaf.

Yes, it is really loud inisde. But for me it is O.K., it is a SPORTS-car, not a Mercedes or Lexus. And usually you drive it where it belongs, curvy country roads.

After i bought mine, i called the first owner of my S2000 in Cologne, Germany, asking a little bit about the History of the car.

"You know, i only sold it because my wife dont liked it. To loud, to harsh. Since, i had a Z4, a SLK, but thats no substitute. Take good car of this car!" And in the Background the Wife: "But.. but ....but..."

Thank god i am not married.

Six-second roof cycle makes it possible to drive roof down -- or up -- easily. It was painful watching the couple struggling with their Lotus 7 clone roof on the side of the road in the rain. (I still want one, of course!) . Yep, six seconds and maybe a paper towel. Air conditioning makes roof up driving bearable in 95°F and 98%. Just getting back into roadster weather here in Virginia. I guess I could address the roof latch rattles but they're not rattling now -- only when driving and there's no time to fix them then.
