I grew up driving a 78 MGB.
This car with the roof up is luxurious in compare...
I have a new OEM top and when up I find it quite pleasant.

It has been a very long time since I owned my 1972 Spitfire. The interior noise in the Spit was pretty bad but the noise was often overshadowed by things like the cowl shake and the draftiness. The gaps between the soft-top and the windows were sizable enough to allow snow drifts to form inside the car when left out in the blowing snow for any period of time. Everything is relative as they say. The thing is, being my first car, I loved the Spitfire despite it's many faults.

My take is that the S2000 has just the right mix of old school sports car attributes to keep me entertained with more than enough Honda goodness to spoil me. Given that I don't drive with the top up all that often I can easily deal with it when needed.

I got mine to sound very quiet with a well adjusted Mugen hardtop, much better than the softop up, but the car always seemed nicest top down. There was also a lot of wind buffeting on the highway with the top up, causing my passenger seat to make noise from the buffeting.
But he just flat out WAY exaggerated what he perceived as negatives. I mean come on seriously he shouldn't have...
Anyway yeah our cars are incredible with the top down in particular. There's nothing on earth like it! With the top up I don't feel bombarded by maniacal noises, etc like some say. It's comfy all the way and I'm lowered and I run a mighty J's Racing FX70RS single exit Ti exhaust with an Invidia 60mm TP

I haven't tried a hard top. I haven't tried driving in the rain either with the top down but I really wanna do so asap so that I can experience the thrill of the rain passing over me

The better part is passing someone going the same direction as you in the rain with the top down and seeing the look on their faces. You can tell they are thinking "boy he is getting wet!" and you are all relaxed and comfy lol.

It did backfire on me once though. 6 am, driving to an autox event and drove through a storm. Saw the rain and though "eh... not that bad, wont get wet" ... the rain then turned to a monsoon, so I started getting a little wet... traffic started to slow as the visibility got worse (very heavy rain then) and then I was getting rained on. As I was looking for a place to pull over, passed a semi in time for another semi to pull over in front of me, so I was stuck behind one and beside the other... the spray from the one beside me was like a firehose to the side of my head. Finally got pulled over, put the top up and it stopped raining about 2 min later lol. It was a small storm that missed the event site, so I pulled into a dry parking lot, got out and looked like I had just hopped in a shower with my clothes on!

You need to cut that wire for the E brake bypass and be able to retract the top at 25-30mph. It comes in handy! On my first s2k with a blown out plastic window I was able to retract at 45mph

Oh I have the top down mod, but still felt like an eternity getting from 55 down to 20 lol. I normally do not operate mine above about 15-20mph

Oh yes - the drafts and gaps... snow blowing in.. yes and yes... and likewise my 78' B was my first car and I loved it dearly - and yes it had flaws... LOL too many to list.

Yes the look on their ignorant faces would be priceless

Oh man talk about a shower in your S2000! I'd be scared for my interior.
