Default Top Down question

Sorry for the title I can't think of something that would legitimately describe what I am trying to ask haha

Ok, I have seen in a couple of pictures on S2000s that when they have their top down, they have a plastic piece on the back where the top folds into. I think that this gives the car a nice clean look while the top is down and I would like to do this myself.

the question I have is. Is this an aftermarket piece or something that is standard on AP2s and that I don't have on my AP1?

if aftermarket, what is the name of it and what are some suggested places for me to order one?

It should have come with the car. It sounds like a tonneau cover. You can find them for about $20 on this site as most people dont use them

This is the tonneau cover. It comes with the car when purchased new, but it's often thrown aside because it's quite a hassle to attach it after putting the top down so easily. Personally I like being able to raise/lower the top whenever i want, so I don't mind the fact that my secondhand S doesn't have one.

I'm sure you could find one for sale on the marketplace section here.

I've got mine laying around, if you want it let me know and we can figure out pricing and such - I don't see a location on your profile.

I think I have it hidden and don't know how to make it visible haha. But i'm in eastern TN. We can figure something out, I use PayPal for all of my online purchases.

Thanks for the quick responses guys. I can understand why most people wouldn't use them, But I have an OCD type of thing about keeping everything about my car looking clean and smooth. And if i'm going to have my top down it's going to be on a nice day while i'm going to be out for a while.

There are both factory and aftermarket tonneau covers. This is what the factory one looks like:

Roadster Solutions sells one that folds up more compactly which is handy if you want to travel with a cover.

It's a PITA. It gets easier if it's warmed up and the more you use it but even so it takes up a lot of trunk space. The straps are noisy in some cases but that's typically easily remedied by twisting the ones that are flapping before attaching them.

Click on your user name at the top right of any page on this site. Choose My Profile and fill out the City/Township & State or Province fields. It's basically the same as it is on most other discussion forum sites.

You could also be talking about the CR Tonneau Cover, which is this style:

Maybe someone can chime in with whether this one works with a soft top installed or not, since the CR did not come with a soft top from the factory. Also, this option is much more expensive than the other one mentioned in this thread.

No, he's not referring to that one because it does not fit with the soft top.

yeah, I was talking about the original model. after I got the name of it I was able to Google it and look at a few different kinds. There are a few that obviously won't work with the soft-top installed because there is no where for the edges of the top to go and would crush it, aka the CR cover.

While the CR "cover" for lack of better words, looks OK, I would rather have the original over it. I'm going to look at some more pictures and reference them to the look of the stock one to decide exactly which one I want, however from the looks of things, I think Honda did really good in their stock version. I've also read that while the top is closed I can fit the cover in that space behind my seat where the top folds down into. So truck space shouldn't be much of an issue. however if I can't, I'll just put it in the Garage during times that I'm not driving, or times that it is too cold or raining to put the top down.

1. I just found out about this cover on another site and am waiting for input on whether or not it's worth $159 +shipping if you use your car as a DD and I would have to put it on and off every day, and I have grown lazy over the years and don't need to attract women with the car, doesn't work when they see me driving it anyway, and the wife objects, ha!
2. someone said it only took them 30 seconds to put on and off. I'm wondering if it would wear out the places where it anchored if a person put it on 100s of times/yr.
