Default Top Down Storage

Does it hurt the vinyl top to have it retracted for long periods, such as a couple of weeks at a time?

Thanks,

Vipersdad

with the hard tops you see on S2s the top is down, and some people have them on months at a time.

the answer would be a yes, notice on the older rag up you see those marks on them?

those are the contact/folding point of the top, the more you had it down the more wear it gonna get(assuming you retract it every day or two to park at somewhere)

I believe leaving it down prematurely wears out the elastic straps too.

I have only take the hardtop off a few times since I bought the car in May, and I have found the the top doesn't want to close when I put it up unless I store the car a few nights in a row with the top up.

I will let you know when I put the top up, usually starts raining around October but sometimes not until December around here. Top has been down since I bought the car last day of Feb.

I expect it will have shrunk a little and be tight the first time back up like every other convertible.
