I was wondering about this as well. I have seen other convertables that could be raised while moving and wondered why the S can't.

It clearly says in the owners manual to not operate the top while the engine is running....so wouldn't this defy that logic.

It also says in the manual to shift to 2nd at 15 mph.

No it doesn't. It suggests that you shift there for optimum gas mileage.

I don't really understand this line of thought, and I'm not flaming you, just trying to understand why you would want this mod.

If you're already at a stoplight, what's so hard about pulling up the ebrake?? Pull up ebrake 1sec, our top 6 secs, latches 2secs (that's if you're putting it up). So it saves 10 secs? You're sitting at the stop light anyway twiddling your thumbs.

I would never do this while moving, any type of strong wind even if you're going "5 mph" is going to most likely bend the frame or cause undue stress on the convert motor. If it's already raining, you're already screwed so take the extra 5 seconds to pull over to the side of the road (or if you're in traffic pull up the ebrake) and pop the top.

Like I said, not a flame, but maybe you can just explain to me the reasons why the rest of us would want to do this?

either way, i dont know about 5mph, but you can drop it while rolling, the safety "lock" is disengaged not when the ebrake is fully engaged. But when the little brake light comes one. That said, if u pull the brake up 1-2 clicks, the actual brakes are not putting any pressure, and the top will operate. Now i have done this at lights, or when traffic is barely rolling: 2mph. But i have a feeling you will reach a point where it will not work at all while going "x" mph

Its not like I am planning on doing any 50mph top drops with it, I just want to be able to drop it at slow speeds if i have to. Not a big deal. I am going to leave the ebrake safety feature intact. None but me ever drives my car so I don't have to worry about someone else doing something wrong.

I can understand the mod. I also understand that dropping the top while mobile at anything above a few (<10MPH) may cause issues, but that said, this has been a popular aftermarket mod on Porsche Boxters for years with a speed max interlock of 25MPH.

I think Honda's just trying to insulate itself from the litigious morons on this planet that would try to play with the top at speed and wind up driving into Granny thus spilling her coffee and causing McDonald's stock to take another nose dive as a result of the $5.5 Million crotch scorching settlement.....

Exactly, and I'm sure you FOLLOW those instructions to a "T" just like everyone else on here.
What exactly is the point in your two comments? Wait...there is none.

I refuted what you said by stating that the manual says to shift there for optimum gas mileage. It DOES NOT say you HAVE to shift there. Does it?? Of course you don't because it's a manual transmission car which leaves it up to the driver when he/she would want to shift. NEVER did I say I personally shift at 15. I said that is what the manual says to do for optimum gas mileage.

It does however clearly state to not use to the top with the motor running.

So what was your point again?
