Why would you start a thread with that negative title? Sounds like you are slamming the Porsche product. Maybe you should have titled it what to use to protect convertible top.

Dry rot means discolored or cracked or what....? You used Scotchgard, too? Hope you can get it fixed!

OOPS! I see now it was just a dream! The link given about top care should do fine.

I use the Porsche top Shampoo and Conditioner. These products work great for your car. I've never had any problems and the way I see it is....if it's good enough for Porsche it's good enough for the Stook. One more thing, this should be in the Car Wash section...

Silver....no offense but there is a big difference between fabric (i.e. Porsche) and single grain vinyl (i.e. Honda) tops. In the short term your top will look great, but given a little time.....well

Utah-

You say our tops are vinyl?? I always thought they were made from canvas material. You sure about your facts? If so, what do you use and/or recommend?

The Porsche products specifically state that they are for use on vinyl, not fabric.

Where does it state that? Not on the bottle. If Porsche tops are made of a fabric material why would they formulate there top products for PVC?

I believe it states it on the bottle. I'm at work right now and can't check just yet.

I DID make sure before using it, I just can't remember exactly WHERE I found the info.

I'll look when I get home today.

You don't have to wait until you get home I have both right in front of me. It does not say anything about using on PVC or vinyl on either bottle. This is what it says on the conditioner can "Use only on polyacrylic/polyester tops." So it does say fabric and not PVC.

I think you are fine... all it is is a mild and very expensive shampoo. your top will be fine... there would probably be more damage from acid rain then from the shampoo...
