top got slashed last night.
Well, I walked out of my door this morning, on the second day in my new house only to find 2 slashes about a foot long in my top. They tried unlatching the top, but were only able to get one side done, then I guess they heard someone coming and left. The thing that pisses me off is that I didnt have anything on my seats and I had my radio door closed- they had no reason to break in.
Any suggestions on what I should do to keep out the rain (duct tape?) until I get it in the shop, and also how much is this going to cost me with parts and labor?
I guess I should be thankful he didnt scratch my car or get in and take my seats.

I belive a new softtop is around $800 but the labor is probably going to be the same amount if not more...
Sorry to hear about that hopefully next time you can catch the guy in the act and beat the crap out of him...

Sorry to hear about the damage to your car, and only 2 days in the new neighborhood too
I'd suggest that you clear out the garage as soon as possible and park your car inside the garage. You know whoever did this will come back again if you just park it outside. And if you are really worried about your seats being stolen, buy the seat lock bolts. Good luck.

the thing is, I think I said hi to the guy who did it. I was sitting on my front porch last night around midnight with some friends and some guy about 20 yrs old wearing a backpack walked through our side yard, coming from the alley where we park our cars. I didn't think too much about it because I was told that people walk through our side yard all the time. I guess it wouldnt have made a difference if I did catch him either way, because he was a pretty big guy, and obviously he had a knife. It is situations like this that make me consider buying a firearm.
