Top latch adjustment
There are no adjustments available to the latches or strikers. If the strikers are worn, they need to be replaced. If the roof doesn't line up with the strikers when closing, the top frame has been bent. Most likely from either driving with the top unlatched or leaving one latch on and trying to fold the top.
I have an OEM hard top on, the passenger side holds very well, but the drive side is just so loose. It holds the top, it does not have wind noise but it makes a lot of rattle noises. I remember, once I have seen someone posted with a picture for the shop manual how to adjust the front top latches. I couldn't find it through the search.

Actually, there *is* an adjustment but it's not on the latches themselves. The adjustment is detailed on page 20-49 of the PDF manual and page 20-47 of the official 2001 hardcopy manual.

Thank you very much for your very helpful information. What is the best way to remove the rear side trims without damaging it so you can access to the latch to adjust it? Perhaps, page 20-52 would show it?
Again, thank you for all of your help.

I take it that you have a hardtop.
If so, this may work, but is only a band-aid until Spring when you take the top off.
Take a very small piece of thin cardboard. Roll it up like a cigaratte. Cut off a small piece and place it between the stricker hook and the latch. Make sure to keep the cardboard in place while closing the latch. The way I have it now, you can't see the "mod" . It's completely hidden under the latch hook. Adding the cardboard was enough to tighen the latch. My hardtop use to rattle over small bumps. All gone now!
I know it's ghetto, but it took me less than a minute to elminate the problem. espcially since the hartdop will stay on until April.
