Default Top Replacement costs?

New to the forum and not sure if this it the right section - but shopping for an S and wanted to know what the cost is to replace the convertible top?
Parts and installations.

Hardtopguy has the black and the blue one, but at $800 or so. I'm sure you can get one a little cheaper somewhere else, but I've always had good experiences with him.

My top is pretty close to needing replacement, too, and I want the blue one...I'll probably go HTG since it's hard to actually find in other places.

It's definitely an above average undertaking, but can be done with hand tools and a rivet gun. I haven't done it yet, but I've done more involved things (clutch) and the top replacement doesn't look too bad. You do need to take out many of the interior panels, but that's not hard at all.

Ebay is the best source for aftermarket tops. They come with install instructions, but there are a few more DIY's on this site- At least there were before the update... I can only find one now.

HTG sells the OEM tops at around $800. I haven't seen them appreciably cheaper than that.
