Thumbs up Top speed limited?

Hey guys! I know this topic has probably been beaten to death, but I wanted a definitive answer (for a bet!). I searched the boards but it brought back all kinds of results that didn't really answer the question.

I hope you guys can help!

So the question is...is an American MY02 S2000 top speed limited by Honda in any way? This is for a completely stock S2000. Or is the top speed just determined by drag/power/gearing?

If so, is there any way to remove this limitation?

Thanks!

Only by aerodynamic drag and how big balls you have and how stupid you are.

there is no speed limiter in place by honda. the only limitations are drag and/or mechanical by gearing.

and the ap1 can get an "indicated" 174mph if you can get going down a hill or have a turbo or something.

Damn...I could have sworn I saw something about it being speed limited, and needing to get it chipped to remove the limitation. Thanks guys!

The domestic (Japanese) S2000's have a speed limiter in them. None of the export models do (unless it's an exported JDM S2000).

Fallacy #2: S2000's need to be chipped.

It's impossible to chip an S2000, you need either a piggyback or full replacement ecu.
