my buddy said he hit 158 and that VTEC kicked in... in 6th!!

VTEC in 6th happens at about 115 to 120 mph.

I hit 150 a few weeks ago, I was very close to 9000rpm when I hit it.

Close to 9000...your info says 2005 S....huh?

And for the record I think I had my S up to like 103 one time...wow, what a blast haha. I guess trying for top speed is kinda pointless once you've owned a few bikes that get up to those kind of speeds with no effort

There have been lots of tests reports. Almost every single one has the top speed between 146 and 149. This is right where it should be considering the HP and drag of the car. Road and Track reported 168 however it was a mistake. They did not test the top speed and reported the gearing limit.
There was an article a while back about an S2000 specially prepped for a top speed run at the Salt Flats. It had an engine with a lot of work and special tires. It still only did 156. The onboard speedometer is not accurate at those speeds and reads high for several reasons.
