It's either torque or knowing how to shift gears - both can accomplish pretty much the same thing.

Would you have made the same statement before? -Dan
Before putting on the SC I was impressed with the car, I just knew it was the one thing that I could do that would actually give some bang for the buck. I didn't expect the car to have a new power curve, but a steeper curve in it's normal power band. A real driver could get a lot more out of my car than I can, just because of driving skill (my point). As everyone knows, the SC doesn't do a lot for low end. I'm also a skeptic that any turbo will either. Low end torque could be helped by a roots type SC, but turbos have always required spooling up - I've owned two before this one - one factory and one add-on (Banks). I'm not meaning to get the low-end torque/SC/Turbo issue going here, I'm sticking with the point that our car, in order to perform well, especially in a sprint, requires a good driver. A C6 requires someone who can press the pedal to the floor.

Small correction. All of the current Corvettes, including Z06, are C5's (you are referring to Corvettes, right?). Next gen will be the C6.

For what little it is worth, going off idle the other day at a stop light, I laxadasacled the launch, stalled, and got rear ended by the car behind. This would not have happened in an M-3.

There are times torque at 1500 rpm in first would be handy.

Part of the "problem" is a lightened drivetrain. Compared to other cars, there isn't much rotational inertia to keep the engine going if you launch with lazy fuel. Even so, I've never stalled it (and still haven't grinded a gear at all).

The person hitting you from behind is at fault BTW, I'm sure you already know this.

Like I've always said to people who complain that Hondas lack torque, "How much torque do you expect a 1.6, 1.8 or 2.0 engine to have?" What too many people do is look at the HP figures on a GSR, ITR or S2000, be impressed it makes a lot of power for a 4 cylinder and then laugh at the torque figures in comparison to it. Honda motors make no more or less than other cars of similar displacement but it has always been the HP figures that were impressive. Obviously if you're comparing the motor to a 3.0+ engine it's going to lack torque. To make up for this the DOHC VTECs tend to have shorter gearing, lighter flywheels, higher redlines etc.
