Default Who said this thing has no torque..?

Yesterday was the first day as a S2k owner and I come from a 03 GTI, car known for good low end torque.
Together with the short gearbox, this car has PLENTY low end torque needed, even for the hilly SoCal freeways..
BTW, after one day ownership I already realized how unique this car is...Best deal and best kept secret in the auto market. Period.

I always thought it had decent touque for a 2.0. It's just that it has astornomical HP for a 2.0! That's what makes it seem torqueless.

Welcome aboard. GTI's are nice.

Ummm just about everyone agrees that the s2k lacks torque. It's really not an issue of debate, just about every dyno run confirms this. If you're claiming that because you outran a GTI you have more torque than they do, you are clearly misunderstanding the difference between torque and horsepower.

The s2000 DOES lack low end torque....that is why it is geared the way it is, so torque can be on tap within 1 shift of the stick. Line up with that GTI and both of you launch from 2500 RPM and see who wins. He will smoke you off the line. The S2000 has crap for low end torque, but as long as the RPM's are up it is not a problem....hence the short gearing.

welcome to the wonderful life of an s2000 owner first of all

this car does lack torque but gearing makes up for it and it not a question that who takes off quicker but who arrives there looking better

I have "READ" the post as you yelled. In said post, the author also screamed that the S2000 has, "PLENTY" of low end torque. Well, although it's a subjective statement, most would agree that's just not true. Low end torque just isn't our car's strong point and I doubt I'm the only, "retard" who thinks that.

I'm pretty sure he's talking about this part of your post: If you're claiming that because you outran a GTI you have more torque than they do, you are clearly misunderstanding the difference between torque and horsepower.
