Torque-speed curve
Please humor my silly question; I'm extremely new (160 miles), and haven't yet exceeded the dreaded 5500 rpm limit during the break-in period. I understand the concept of 153 lb-ft at 7500 rpm, and I understand the notion of VTEC allowing the engine power to peak at 8300. But, if the torque peak is 153 at 7500, how much lower is it at 4000 or 5000? In fact, does anyone know where I can find a graph of the torque vs. rpm curve?
best thing to do, to really know, is search for 'dyno chart' or something similar. every so often, someone will post a copy of a dyno run or two - sometimes before and after mods, and it should give you an general idea - even with some mild modifications.
one example would be RM's exhaust dyno chart. it can be found here: http://www3.security-one.com/ssl2000/rms2k...yno_exhaust.jpg

There is a stock vs super charged dyno on the Comptech site at:
http://www.comptechusa.com/images/dyno/s20...upercharger.pdf
Note that its a PDF file, so you need the Acrobat Reader installed to view it (most people already have it, but if not, go to the adobe site http://www.adobe.com/ and download it from there)
This has note only the graph, but a chart of RPM's and hp/torque values. Please note however that this is taken from the Rear wheels, so you won't see the 153 torque or 240hp listed on the chart. Also, curiously, the stock S2K shows its max torque value at around 6600 RPM's on the chart and not 7500. I don't know exactly why....I wouldn't think the drive train would modify the point of highest torque, but perhaps it does...or else maybe the 'stock' s2K actually had different headers or exhaust on it.
